Leather seats

Postby MikeM » Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:38 pm

Hi,

Can anyone give me advice on what to do with leather seats that appear to stick to clothes?

The seat backs are not sticky to the touch but once you have sat in them for a while, the cover sticks to your shirt or top when you lean forward. This is on both front seats and is also noticed by my wife.

I have cleaned it with Maguires Gold Class leather cleaner and conditioner but it appears no different. Does it need some other treatment to clean it up etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike

I suggest wipe over with clean cloth moistened in luke warm soapy water, taking care not to soak the leather.
Do not use washing up liquid or any other detergent product.
Then wipe again with another clean cloth dampened with clean water and allow the seats to dry naturally.
Worked for me !

Hi Joe, I don't think they will be Autolux, the model is a 1999 XJR.

Dave, I will give your idea a try, it may be that the simple solution is the most effective.

Thanks gents.

Mike if they are not Autolux then when you have done your normal cleaning proceedure dry the seats ..........then get your wifes "pledge" furniture spray wax and give the seats a fine spray then polish off.
"Pledge" seems to be the best one to use, as it contains wax.......it also acts as a slight feeder too. It not a remedy in any manuals but i have used it before.........not on Autolux seats though. Joe:wink:
