Cleaning & Polishing

My car is now just over 6 years old. During this time it will have been polished approx. twice a year. There must by now be a build up of polish which I assume will have picked up some ingrained dirt. Is there any rule of thumb as to how often (if at all) you should "T Cut" back the old polish and start again?

Paul in my opinion i dont think there will be much polish left on anyway.......but it is not a bad idea to TEE CUT it back before it starts to bloom........or better still ask a local painter or a mate with a buffer to Mop the paint work and get the laquer cleaned back then give it some more polish........Maguiars Tech Wax i find a good polish to use....Joe

Why dont you claythe car then apply a PIA wipedown....this clears the surface of all old polish and wax.....then start again.......i have just done a Permanon protectorate finish on mine......after the PIA wipedown just apply the Permanon with a damp mitt and rinse off.....water is the carrier for the Permanon.....a small 100 ml atomiser will cover the largest car a couple of times.......top finish and only needs clear water to wash it after the Permanon application.......read up on it Permanon .com

In this pic its after the Permanon has just been applied, its still being held by the water no wiping dry has yet happened......when it was towelled dry it really did shine....and protect for a good 6 months....
