I have intermittant suspension fault code appear, which is really annoying as the suspension then sets itself on the hardest setting and you feel every bump. (Not very Jaguar). I had this diagnosed and it pointed to the rear nearside shocker, so it was changed at a cost of some £400. 18 months later the same fault appears and again diagnosed as the same shocker, so changed again. 18 months later the same fault appears, by which time I am not paying for another shocker, but the fault comes and goes. Eventually I emailed David Marks who points to a possibly a wiring fault. A fairly switched on local mechanic suggests changing the wiring loom under the rear seat. Bingo end of story, not an exact science! I am not saying this is the fault in your case, but is just an example of how complex these cars are.

Baz, im not doubting the result of your enquiries, but it does need the correct diagnostic equipment to sort out codes and such. Has your guy got the correct equipment?..........its a lot of cash to be forking out for shock absorbers........Joe
