Air Con Service

Hello everyone.
Just thought I'd mention that I had a mobile air conditioning service come out to do the air conditionong on my XJ8.
I've had the car for four years now and the A/C has always been quite good but at the start of the hottish weather we had just after the lockdown started the A/C did not seem as cold as it had been.
One of the reasons for using a mobile A/C service is that I'd been warned about unscrupulous so called A/C specialists by my brother in law who owns an MOT center and that's always been in the back of my mind.
This is the first time I've ever had to have the air con done on any car so I was a bit worried on how to proceed.
Also I don't like leaving my car with garages and not being able to see whats going on and what they are doing.
So I found a company in my area called All Seasons Mobile air-con service. Here's the link:
http://www.allseasonsair.co.uk/index.html
After making an appointment a chap about my age (late 50's) turned up in a plain dark blue van(no sign writing). The only thing to tell it was All Seasons was the printed chest badge on his t-shirt.It's his own business and does not employ anyone so you get a sort of personal service :D .
He went through the procedure and explained what he was doing and why.
The whole operation took between 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it was very interesting to see what is actually involved.
There was nothing wrong with the system so he was able to re-gas it with the correct amount of gas, which is weighed as it goes in.
Another scam some places pull is not putting the correct amount of gas in.
In the X308 it takes 650 grams and I watched it going in :D .
All this cost me £65.00(£35.00 call out fee + £30.00 for the gas)if he can not re-gas it for some reason he will only charge the call out fee.
My A/C is spot on now and I suppose it's like giving the A/C a service.Plus I know it has been done correctly.
Had a drive over to Dawlish to visit my mother in law last Friday, lovely and cool.

So if your like me and very protective of your pride and joy try a mobile service.
I also use a mobile tyre company as well :D .
Enjoy your cars and stay safe.
Andy :D

Like Andy I also used a mobile service to good effect when I found that the air con on my newly purchased 2002 XJ8 didn’t work. The previous owner had already told me that he wound the windows down if it got hot! The one man band based near me in Cornwall came with a well equipped van with a useful side awning. He found the one leaking unit, fixed it and gassed up for £150. Job done.
