Thought I'd share with you something so easy to do and makes all the difference (to me anyway).
Had my wheels off the other day and thought how bad the wheel nuts look.
They are stainless steel so I took a little copper wire brush and gave them a gentle clean and polish,all by hand.
Going to get a bench grinder and put a polishing wheel on one end to do them properly next time.
Karen(Err indoors)says I have too much time on my hands.
Little things make me so happy .

Just like paint and glass fibre, under all that grot lays a jewel! You just have to get down to the sound base material.

Just to update,I finally got around to getting a bench grinder and a polishing mop to complete the job on my wheel nuts. Needless to say I'm very pleased with the results.

Andy -- did you use a compound too? If so what?
I've got also (don't ask an XJ6 series 1 '72MY that's got the original Slot Mag 15" Wolfrace wheels on.
But with the original XJ6 wheel nuts (I'm told). Haven't been able to locate any replacements.
So guess I'm gonna burnish them like you've done

Hi Rich,
I just used the blue compound bar that came with the polishing kit but you can buy more abrasive bars separately.
Mine have stainless covers on which are standard I think,which is why they cleaned up so well.
Maybe you could get some for yours if the steel nuts are really bad.
