What wheels and tyres would've been fitted as OEM on my just got new toy -- '01MY XJ8 Exec?
I've got what appears to be XJR 4.0L rims on with 255/40/ZR18 99Y XL all round. Looking at an eBay photo of an XJ8 Drivers book it gives tyre pressures only for 17" and 18". Haven't got the books that were issued with the car.
I'd prefer to go to OEM unless there's an over riding advantage in staying with these XJR rims. They're not nice anyway -- they're kerbed and someone's had a go with a silver rattle can -- so I'd have to get them re-furbed/powder coated to get them presentable, at £312 inc. VAT all round.
Query is confused even more as there's a "Sport" badge on the boot, but V5C says Executive.
I've downloaded the sales brochure for that year which suggest the Sport pack option should have either 16" Eclipse (five spoke) or 17" Celtic (10 spoke) wheels with the 18" Asteroid (seven spoke that I've got) reserved for the XJR. But that info doesn't match with the specifications chart!
Anyone got the full info?

You get a lot of car for sub £3k if you're prepared to search the web adverts, spend out on visits to far away places (with strange sounding names) and be strict with yourself not to buy something tatty thinking: "Oh! I can get this, that, or the other done".
Glad I went this route now and took the risk that it hadn't been just badged engineered -- just had it confirmed the seats are Sport too
Excellent news Rob -- JEC membership more than pays for itself

I promise not to tell...Direct Dealer Warranty, so now you know where my contact is!!
Had the service invoices back from supplying and first six years' service dealership today. Strange how casually dropping JEC membership into the conversation has an effect.
Unfortunately no change to a 4.2 metal tensioner noted. Nor anything about ATF and filter change
That leaves last two known specialist shops to check: in Wigan and Coventry

Re: 2001 X308 Exec
Four off 17" nice clean Celtics fitted from eBait. Fitted them with Kumho Ecsta Sport 235/50/ZR17 96Y
Inspection of the tyres now off show, even for only the 400 or so miles I've driven, a 1" wide track mark to outer edge of at least one. They're Kumho Ecsta 255/40/ZR18 99Y XL two with 4mm and two with 5mm tread.
The rims are 18" Asteroids that'd need fresh powder coating and re-furb.
Open to offers in Blackheath, SE London (wife and an '01MY XJ8, another Mk IX in the paint shop, and a Citroen DS23 to support)
