XK8 Alloys on an XJ8

I have been offered a set of XK8 18" alloys at a good price. As the 16" wheels fitted to my X308 are in need of refurbishment I was thinking of just swapping them over.

Does anyine know of any reason why such a swap shouldn't go ahead. I'm assuming that the lower profile of tyre fitted to the 20" wheels would insure that the speedo remains accurate? I gather that there may be some difference in offset of front and rear wheels on the XK8 that may not be applicable to the XJ?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

There was a quote somewhere that an XK8 had wider wheels at the back than at the fornt.........and also the XJ 8 had a width setting of 8.5 to allow for the brakecalipers to clear although thismay have been on the supercharged versions..........ask first.....Joe

What a coincidence! My newly acquired XJR V8 Auto Supercharger 1997
came with 255x40x18" on the front,but 255x45x18 on the rear. Which
differs from the identical model tested by "Autocar" on 10 Sept 1997 which came in at 255x40 18 all round.
The owners pack which came with my car is of no help either,with one or two booklets missing.
This contribution has put my first post down the line!
