Front wheel bearing sizes

Postby Orkney » Sat Jan 28, 2017 5:13 pm

Just decided to refurb the spare hub which was in the way when I was looking for something else. When I had my 99 308 I refurbed a scrap hub to save time doing the bearing job, so this hub is from that 866xxx vin number car. I know there was a change after 85xxxxx so this is a later hub with an 80mm (ish) bearing. Does anyone know for certain that this was the only bearing change during 308 production as I want to fettle this one for my 2000 year Daimler SV8 (F prefix vin number) in case of need. I have all the tools to do the job and have already stripped the hub of all bits.

Hi Ian,

If my information is correct:
Up to VIN 853535 the bearing is part no. MJA1830AE
From VIN 853536 the bearing is part no. MNC1830AA (and cheaper price-wise).

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Steve.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info on the part numbers, the hub carrier I am doing definitely uses the later number, I just hope that there were no other changes later on. Hope you are both well; I keep up with your work on the cars via the mag. We might get a chance to join up with the 300/308 folk sometime this year - another busy one!

Regards,
Ian and Chris
