My XJR is a second car, which is taken out once or twice a week unfortunately at the moment it has to live outside and I've noticed, not helped by the cold weather and gritted roads that despite washing the car regularly there is still quite a bit of surface rust appearing on the brake discs. My questions are:
Does it just get scraped off when I next use the car?
Does it damage the pads applying them to the rusty surface?
Is there a decent prevention apart from the obviouis of keep it inside or drive it more often?
Would a car cover help?
Is surface rust on discs a problem

Surface Rust
yep it's just surface rust, soon comes off when you take it for a run, you just notice it because of the alloys but glad to know it's of no major concern.
