Multiple electrical faults
Hi, hope someone out there can help me with this one - a few weeks ago my remote central locking stopped working, did all the usual stuff, changed battery, tried to re programme etc. but got nowhere. Then all of a sudden it began to work again but has now become very intermittent and seems to work when it feels like it (usually ASDA car park for some strange reason). Then about a week ago the driver's door window stopped opening, you can hear the switch click when you depress it but nothing happens, all the other windows are working fine. Then the sunroof decided to stop working, however, I noted that if I open and close the front passenger window first, then try it, it starts to work again, and finally today I locked the car with the key as the remote wasn't working but when I unlocked the boot with the key, the alarm went off. Not sure if this is many different problems or if something is affecting the electrics in general. Anyone any ideas??!!

Re: Multiple electrical faults
wow , a few problems that have built up
lets start with the locking
the door switches located within the locking mechanism in the edge of the doors can stick , usually from lack of use, if it sticks then it sends the wrong information to the BPM and or alarm module , and will send the unit a bit doolally-tap ,
they can be a pig to work on , but can be rescued unless actually broken
the switch pack in the drivers door can suffer from minor corrosion on the switch contacts , this can stop individual windows from working , again , they can be taken apart , or a replacement switch can be used ,
the boot can be unlocked with the key ( you are very lucky as they seize lol ) , and with the locking/alarm problems its confused ,
however , if you open the car with the key in any way , you have ten seconds to insert a recognised key into the ignition to prevent the alarm from going off, the only way this won't happen is with the remote boot opening button on the fob ,
hope this helps

Re: Multiple electrical faults
Thanks BB, much appreciated.
I note you mention about the alarm going off within 10 seconds if the key is not inserted into the ignition. This wasn't happeneing when things started to go wrong but today a beeper sounded prior to the alarm going off when I unlocked the driver's door with the key, hopefully that then is an improvement
As for the other problems I will have to follow your guidance and see what happens. Not being the most technical person in the world, are the door interiors easy to remove or are there lots of hidden scews etc to undo first? (don't want to cause any more damage trying to get them off). Will try taking the switch pack apart too, hopefully that might solve something.
Many thanks again BB
Cheers
