Heated rear screen not working?

On a misty day last week, my rear view mirrors cleared nicely but my rear screen appeared to do nothing. I have not been able to recreate the experiment due to weather conditions...
I have located and checked the fuse and it looks fine. I await a misty or frosty day when I can check this out properly but, if it does nothing, what should I check next?
I had my heated front screen replaced recently - am I right to assume the rear scren circuit is completely separate so nothing could have been upset in the process?
Thanks,
Nigel

Other than they are all controlled by the Air Conditioning Control Module, they do not seem to share the same circuit.
Have you checked the relay, relay No. 2 in the boot/trunk fusebox? It should be brown.

How do I check a relay once I have located it? What am I looking for?
Sorry for naive question!

Chaps,
I used to see "bump" messages on another owners bulletin board a few years ago and eventually realised it was just a way of nudging your message up the rankings if you hadn't received a reply...
If anyone can help me with my request re what to look for when checking a relay then I'd appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Blackflash/Nigel

I am not an electrician but a quick search on Google finds this:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4596906_test-car-relay.html
There are no doubt others too.
I guess the fastest way to test the relay would be to look for another known good one elsewhere on the car of the same type/colour and substitute it.

Thanks. Not entirely sure I'd trust an article which gets an average review of 1.5 stars out of 5... But it makes clear I need equipment which I don't have and by the time I've bought it probably for one use only I would probbly be better off paying a garage to do it for me.
Which is useful to know!
All the best,
Nigel

Halfords sell a circuit tester for 3.29GBP!
I don't know if you are a member but, if not, I can highly recommend joining the X300 forum at
http://forums.jag-lovers.org/.
There are hundreds of members some of whom are Jaguar mechanics, auto electricians etc so you are likely to get more timely, expert help there.
Bargain!

£3.29 sounds like it's worth a punt!
I couldn't possibly join the X300 forum, that would be like having a clandestine affair...
All the best,
Nigel
