New battery for 2001 Daimler SV8

I don't have the old battery (which was a cheap one from previous owner) or the handbooks covering the vehicle (missing when bought years ago). So, I understand Varta or Exide are recommended (told to steer clear of Yuasa). But which battery is best for the car and will fit in the battery box?
TIA.

Hi David, if you have a local EuroPart or Taylor's electrical parts depot nearby, they should be able to sort you out. The EuroPart website even has a search facility by registration number I believe. Before going along, make sure you take the measurements from your battery box, length, breadth and height available to accommodate the replacement battery. I would not discount the Yuasa make, that is what I use in my 5.0 litre XKR and it works really well. In fact I suspect that it is original equipment on some Jaguars with a Jaguar sticker on the side of the battery.
As a minimum, you should be looking at a 90Ah and I believe your tray will accept 190 mm (H) - 354 mm (L) - 175 mm (B).

Hello David,
Good advice from Jim,I replaced my battery about 3 years ago and went for 100 AH 850-900 CCA.
The size of the battery is (L)353mm x (W)175mm x (H)190mm.
The make of battery is up to you, most come with a warranty anyway.
Good luck and enjoy your car.
Andy

Thanks Jim & Andy, much appreciated.
I'm going to go for a Varta Silver Dynamic H3 which is 100Ah and fits the dimensions.
Reason for not choosing Yuasa, which I had originally thought of, was reports from the owner of the servicing firm I use that they had had a lot of Yuasa battery failures during lockdown, all under warranty.
I think Varta was probably fiited as OEM originally.
Many thanks. All I have to do now is save up for one!!
