X308 2001 OBD reader

Hi, I have been using an ELM327 bluetooth and Torque software to successfully decode engine warning issues but I want to monitor the transmission now.
After researching, the Icarsoft i930 seemed to have the required functions.
However having obtained one I cannot get it to usefully connect to the car. It brings up all sorts of strange values and messages. The Transmission section shows all values as N/A, The engine temp shows 135 degrees centigrade even when set to imperial units rather than metric.
I suspected that the unit is faulty and contacted Icarsoft support and got a reply " i930 has limited suport on 2001 Jaguar XJ,as it's not standerd OBD II compliant" (must be American spelling!)

Is there any recommended OBD reader for the X308 2001 vintage that can access the transmission diagnostics?

I bought my i930 about a year or maybe more ago, (I have an X300) and I have used mine on my own car, and both early and later V8's, along with my Brothers Range Rover 322, and a mates P38, and my best mates 2009 XF, all with no issue. Full readings and re-set, hitching it up with a laptop as well, and all free downloads. I've not heard of any problems with cars within the 1994 to 2014 range, JLR. I've even done re-sets and full diagnostic on a 2014XF V8. Best thing I ever purchased for £99.

I wonder if yours is faulty?

You have confirmed what I thought. I had written to icarsoft support to ask their confirmation and whether/how I could get the unit repaired. I was totally thrown when I got the reply which I quoted verbatim. Just a single sentence!
I did reply to query the answer but had no further response.

Have you tried doing a firmware update in case it’s the firmware that is buggy?

Go to the UK Diagnostics site for free updates.

I`ve had my i930 unit for several years and used it on the many Jaguar models of the 1997> period. That included transmission interrogation on a V8 S-type without issue.

An odd issue as to why you can`t interrogate this section of a 308.

Hi All, I did load the latest firmware but to no avail. I gave up and further searching suggested that the Foxwell NT530 would do the job. I bought one but found similar issues.
However, I have cracked the Foxwell NT530 diagnostic and yes it does read all the modules on my car.
The missing bit is a set of instructions as to how to use it!
The opening screen suggests that one can allow the unit to find the car details automatically or set them manually. Auto does not work and if one follows the manual path one option is "XJ series". Wrong, on older vehicles one must select "other vehicle" and then select the VIN range. Also it's not clear when the ignition must be on but engine not running and when it must be running.
Purchase directly from Foxwell website at 144 euros. That price includes a single car manufacturer (land rover Jaguar) but the code is not loaded and one must search around to find the load process which uses a USB link to a pc and the website.
