Tony,
As you've had an issue more than once which seems to emanate from a complete circuit break somewhere in that one section of loom in the boot that you wiggled, i would do the following:
- Bare the insulation at the plugs such that you can fully inspect all the wire to terminal junctions at the back of the plug. Whilst the engine is running ( and whilst wearing insulated gloves) wiggle each wire to check for integrity.
If no faults found;
- carefully cut the insulation tape all along that section so that all the individual wires are visible. Check for any visible breaks and remake accordingly. Again, if none visible, wiggle each wire with engine running to try and isolate the one suspect wire.
Good luck
Paul

Re: She's dead Jim!
I guess if I seperated the loom into the individual wires and wiggled (there must be a better word to use) each one individually that would be a starting point. Failing that I think I might get one of the avionics guys at work to have a look, I'm owed a favour or two
I think I have a total of a dozen wires on my bikes and that makes me think twice.

Re: She's dead Jim!
the X308 has a small issue with the bootlid loom breaking and shorting out in some cases, it breaks where the cable bundle pivots by the right hand hinge ,
lots of strange things have happened as a result of this from non working locks, strange lighting issues and even security module issues due to broken or shorted wiring
i would rule this out as well

Re: She's dead Jim!
After a thorough inspection of the offending part of the loom and where it disappears up into the the boot I found nothing and the car is starting and running perfectly once again. A mystery wrapped up in an enigma. Of course it doesn't mean that it can be left like this as the next time the problem will rear it's ugly head will be on a dark road across the moors during a thunderstorm with no phone coverage and the far off distant howl of a.........
