1. I'm in Southampton and would appreciate any good contacts for servicing etc. There is a Jaguar dealer, but the prices!! I'm sure there will be some independent garages who can help me look after the car.
2. On the way to Scotland, slowing down on an off-slip I got "Check engine" then "Engine stalled" warning lights. When I stopped the engine had indeed stalled. I switched off, and started again with no problems. This happened 3 times on that journey and once since. Any clues?
3. Yesterday, the car was running fine, then when I stopped for a while and returned to the car I had the ABS warning light, "Traction control fail" and "Stability control fail" warning messages. I parked up and tried it about an hour and a half later and all the warnings had gone. Any ideas?

The obvious one is the most given out one in the forum.........have your battery checked out ..........or better still try a different battery altogether see if the problems clear up......Joe

it does indeed sound like the battery might be on the way out,
but you have a second non related problem..
there is fault with the TB( throttle body ) that makes the engine cut out at motor way speeds,and then will restart without any problms.... it does this without warning, and is a well known problem
jaguar should have recalled all the affected cars, but some do slip through the net
the good news if that if your car needs the recall work it will still be done, and for free to, as its a safety problem
get in touch with the nearest jaguar garage, give them your VIN, and ask if the TB recall has been done to the car, they will look it up on the computer, and book you in if it hasnt
this did not happen to cars built during 1999 and later, as they had revised TB's fitted at production

Success! Called Jag HQ, who told me to call into local dealer (HA Fox). They told me that Service Agreement S514 had not been done on my car, ordered the part, done this morning, free of charge. Apparently it's not a recall item, so they wouldn't have written to owners, but it would have been highlighted at a service at a Jag dealer. Mine had been serviced at RR/Bentley dealers, so no note of this service Agreement.
Just call into any Jag dealer and ask if S514, change of throttle body has been done to your VIN, and if not they will fix it. They may try and palm you off with a clean-out, but Jaguar told me to tell them to phone 0845 303 2303 for clarification. The part needs to be changed.
I believe the previous owner of my car was a "pootler", and if the car is driven with more gusto the problem is not so apparent. Anyhoo..it's sorted now and I'll keep you posted.
