cooling system warning light

hi everybody, i have a problem with the engine coolant warning light on my 1998 model. under hard accelleration the light comes on for a few seconds then goes out, the tempature gauge remains normal. i have checked coolant and oil levels and all seem normal, the performance is not affected but it is causing concern, has anyone experienced this problem many thanks

if all levels are fine, and everything seems ok it might be just a case of a loose sensor wire (the clue here is it happens under acceleration)have you checked all the electrical connections ?

Also, just as an aside and you may think I'm nuts but get your battery checked - a battery on its way out causes all sorts of weird and wonderful messages and lights to appear on our cars and is often discounted by many at the time only for them to discover later (after a lot of time and money spent on other things) that it was the battery after all!

hi, thanks for the advice i have checked the connection on the coolant tank all seems well,i will get the battery checked tomorrow

Try battery mate, i kept getting various error messages including the horrible restricted preformance messags on my 1998 x308, Replaced battery and all is well now
