Water pumps - Issues with All or only Early Cars?

I have recently bought a late March 2002 XJ8 3.2 Sport.
I've booked it in to have a 70k service, upper chain tensioners and gearbox oil & filter on 1st March.

As a 2002 car will it have a revised water pump without the issues of earlier cars? On the one hand I would like to apply some preventative maintanance, on the other hand I'd like to keep the bill moderately sensible!
