Cam Cover Sealant

Postby Aerosteve » Mon Aug 24, 2009 10:36 pm

I notice that a bead of sealant is required at one end of the head when replacing the camcovers. Any information on what type of sealant and where to source it?

The part number is RTV sealant WSS-M4G320-A3. I believe that this is a Ford part number. Try the spares department at either your local Ford or Jaguar dealer.

The sealant should be applied at two places on the joint between the timing cover and the cylinder head. The application of sealant must be 3 mm diameter by 12 mm long. Install the cam cover immediately after applying the sealant. The cover should be installed directly to the head without smearing the sealant.

Regards,

David
