"the triple by pass"

Postby joejag308 » Mon Jul 14, 2008 4:34 pm

Although my steed has only 37,000 mls on the clock, i wasnt ever comfortable when going out in it with this tensioner thing being an evident risk........so ive plumped for the triple bypass, tensioners, water pump , and thermostat, it should stop me worrying when on a long run.
some people fob it off and dont worry, but its not the way to go.
Joe.........

Hi Joe,

Did you carry out this work or independent or dealer?
How much did it cost?

Regards

For upper tensioners, water pump & thermostat, using genuine Jaguar parts the cost should be about £170 for parts,4 Hours labour + VAT on top.
It the labour charge where the difference in cost for the job comes from.
Jaguar dealers charge about £100 an hour for labour.
Independants around half that.

My treble by-pass

Postby joejag308 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:08 am

Bill i had the work done at West Riding Jaguar in Mirfield, this is run by Dave Bye whos well known in J E C Racing circles, always very efficient he did the work replacing the three major components, tensioners, water pump, and thermostat........it seemed a waste as the parts that came out of my car didnt have a mark on them ive only done 37 thousand miles.
The benefits have already been an advantage, going down to Southern Day Show was a round trip of almost 600 miles gave me satisfaction that at least the engine wasnt going to go bang. Its a personal choice either to get the work done or just keep running the car, but it was too big a risk for me .....so the work is done and i can settle down to some sort of peace for a while........The total bill for the whole job came to £506.00
Joe
