Hello all
Looking through my paperwork for 2000 3.2 I have a bill from 2008 for can shaft tensioners cam shaft chains cover gaskets cover bolt o rings and seals all done by Lancaster land rover at £1500. I would assume this must mean my car has had the dreaded chain tensioners upgraded and hopefully to MK3 in 2008?
Sorry I don't really understand the terminology so assuming cam shaft tensioners and cam shaft chains are the same as the commonly discussed issue
Thanks
Matt
Silly chain tensioner question
Re: Silly chain tensioner question
2008 would certainly have seen the third generation of METAL tensioners in common circulation. These 4.2 V8 up-rate units have proved bulletproof in service.
One would like to think the metal units would have been fitted to your car during 2008. However, only by lifting a cam cover can you confirm that it is the case. If metal units are installed, you are laughing. If not, then you need metal units fitted as soon as possible. Ignore at your peril!

Having been done in '08 means the steel tensioners would've been fittedMany thanks Mike. I will get it checked
Even Lancaster
Mind you, I did have one X308 that'd had the whole cat convertor with O2 sensor changed for a sensor fault.
