OBD Code P0352refers to
The COP (coil on plug) ignition system is what is used on most modern engines. There is an individual coil for each cylinder that is controlled by the PCM (powertrain control module). It eliminates the need for spark plug wires by putting the coil right above the sparkplug. Two wires are dedicated to each coil. One is a battery feed usually from the power distribution center. The other wire is the coil driver circuit from the PCM. The PCM grounds/ungrounds this circuit to activate or deactivate the coil. The coil driver circuit is monitored by the PCM for faults If an open or a short is detected in the driver circuit for coil number 2, a P0352 may set. Also, depending on the vehicle, the PCM may also shut down the fuel injector to the cylinder also.

Possible causes of OBD code P0352
Short to voltage or ground on COP driver circuit Open on COP driver circuit Loose connection at coil or broken connector locks Bad Coil (COP) Faulty Powertrain Control Module


so , ' B ' refers to the second coil from the front on the right bank , as looking from the drivers seat ,

Thanks so much, so it looks like i am getting there slowly, will wait for the 4 x coil packs to arrive (ebay £60) get the new spark plugs in, check all connections, fingers crossed!

First observation:
Changed the Coil as per the fault code and cleared the code using my code reader, seems to run fine although i am yet to run it to full temp which is when the fault surfaces, will do that when i change the spark plugs tomorrow, anyway the interesting part is that the car would never start in park , it would just crank over until put into neutral, now i have changed the coil and reset the fault code its starts in park! any ideas?

could be the brake realise switch under the gear selector , these are know to stick , and fail , so the car might think its in gear,

search for this type of issue on the forum

so, the new plugs are in, not to bad a job, the one i removed had done around 30k, looked very dark, anyway so to it for a quick drive and so far so good, need to do a full warm up session later to fully test for the fault, but first impressions are that it feels a bit more alive!

if you drop the battery off for 20 mins, then the ECU will ' forget ' any issues, and learn your new setup quicker ,

ensure you have no air leaks on the induction system , especially the part load breather pipe from the left cam cover back to the TB through the engine valley

Had the old girl out for two large runs today , up to full temp etc, the dreaded fault has not appeared!
Car drives very different from when first collected, feels a lot more responsive, i guess the new plugs, replacement coil pack & new air filter have helped, so fingers crossed! i cleared the fault code down with my ebay code reader, fuel filter and oil change next, not forgetting the XJR mesh grill!

Think the replacement coil pack has worked, run it for 20 odd miles today, running like dream and kicking down with loads of energy!

What is the life of coil packs? I replaced 2 aye 59k now have a further problems at 60K should I replace the other 6?
