Sold my XJ8

yup , the ' reluctant ' end of an era

but

it was time to finish the very long running restoration of my V12 XJS coupe , and my XJ was only ever meant to be a temporary indulgence while i was restoring the XJS , and that time has come five and a half years later , lol

funny really , i never actually intended to sell her, it just worked out that way ........

all funds raised will be fully ploughed into getting the XJS painted, the wheels refurbished and some new rubber on them , the rest is all ready to be fitted , and then she will be off for an MOT , and hopefully will be around for next years shows


the XJ8 has served me well , i have spent a fair bit of time and money on her to keep her in good condition , and for the most part she never let me down , and was always a pleasure to drive , and very relaxing after a long day at work , two years ago i got a company car, and i only did around 600 miles a year in the Jag since, this is not fair on the car, or my wallet , as to tax insure and MOT was more expensive compared to the usage , and then there was the driveway shuffle we had to do from time to time , but i did enjoy taking her out for sunny sunday drives.........(yes , i know , just the once with our weather )

she is going to a new owner that will look after her, and is a Jaguar virgin , but is very enthusiastic about having her ,

this months magazine finally has my article published about the tensioner replacement i did some time back , funny really , i sell her a few days after the magazine dropped on the floor.........

so , now my subscription is also due again , do i stay around, or concentrate on getting the XJS completed , i think i will have a year out.....will have to think on this one

either way , i am no longer an XJ8 owner ,

Hi,
I am the new owner (yes virgin Jaguar owner) but very, very enthusiastic. I am looking forward to getting involved with what will be my local region (Yorkshire) once back in England full time in October.
I have to agree with Mike, BB should stay around. People like myself, new to Jaguar and the JEC need the experience of members like, BB and others with lots of practical experience.

Sorry to hear that the XJ8 has gone but if that means the XJS gets finished quicker, then I guess it's an acceptable compromise. I've got to decide what to do with my XJ8 also....

GordonJ, really pleased that you've now got your first XJ8 and a really good spec as well! I didn't like to say when you were thinking of buying that 3.2, but I do seriously believe that a 4 litre sovereign is the car to have. The 4 litre is quicker, more economical and sovereigns have a much better set of toys and trim! Congrats on your choice!

Hi Paul,
just a note to say thanks for your help with the 3.2 Ltr. My first choice was always the 4 Ltr. I am delighted with my purchase and the bonus is, this was my favourite colour. It also helps that the wife likes it as well. Looking forward to getting behind the wheel and taking an active part in the clubs activities.
