recycling used oil

Postby tony2Jags » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:34 pm

Hi Guys
Just a quick tip for usage of waste oil :
When you change your oil and have 5-8 litres of waste oil, mix the oil with wood preserve (Creosote) and spray on your fencing panels. I have done this for the past 5 years, and panels still look like new.
Another tip....
If you are struggling to fill your gearbox or diff with oil.....try using a pump action fence paint sprayer. I have 2 paint sprayers, 1 for the oil filling purpose and 1 for the fence panels. They are about £20 each. If you try filling oil in diff a conventional way, I seem to bang my knuckles and end up like I've been 2 rounds with Frank Bruno.
Cheers
Tony :)

Tony

although i admire you attempt to recycle old oil,
i would not recommend it being sprayed onto woodwork in the garden , as this is contaminated waste , and does come under environmental contamination laws,

the ONLY way to dispose of contaminated engine oil is at your local recycling centre in the correct manor , and its free to do so

Hi BB
Thanks for your comment.
My local recycling depot (Council Depot) has recently closed down, and has moved appox 12 miles.
This is my main reason for finding others methods of recycling my used oil. 12 miles away does not seem very far, but when you have a guzzler of a V8 Jag, it uses alot of petrol.
It does look good though. (LOL)
Cheers
Tony :)
