X-308 Workshop / Service Manual

In view of the fact that there is no Haynes type manual available for the X-300/308 is anyone aware if there is any other workshop or service type manual available for these cars please?

Have a word with Derek Boyce at Jaguar Heritage.

Derek can usually copy these technical publications if he holds one of the originals. Usually about a tenner plus post. he is happy to do this.

If possible try to give him the reference number.

Would that be the same Jaguar Heritage that I phoned a few months ago to be told that they don't really do pats etc that cover the X308?

I was and remain quite amazed at how little the X308 is catered for especially considering that when I purchased my first X300 XJ Sport which at that time was the same age as the XJR I have now it seemed there was much more available with the likes of CD's and literature etc etc.

The X308 seems to be quite neglected...

the 300 was the last car to have hard copy manuals produced, these are rare and hard to find now, JH then took these hard copies along with all the previous models and transferred all the info onto the the discs you can buy via JH

at the same time JH and Classic parts became responsible for all historical data and parts supply of cars up to the 300, only recently 300 (within the last 2 years) has been included into the JH and Clasic parts supply chain

the 308 stuff has not been handed over from Jaguar to JH or Classic parts yet, hence if you search a common 300/308 part on the Classic Parts website it will show as contact us even though we all know it available

There were no hard copy manuals at all for 308, but you may well find a JTIS disc on ebay which will give you some info, but all of these cars were scanned for faults on IDS at the dealers, no traditional manuals were held. There may well be some training manuals available, I have a 350 one which came from Jaguar and I know there are a few S Type items copied, which Mike Kennedy has on file

not what you want to hear I know, but fact I am afarid, this is where the value of BB's such as on here can be of huge help, the knwoledge held JEC members is immense, ask your questions and and answer will be forthcoming I'm sure

Thanks for your response Rob, but can those members write it down in a blow by blow account ala Haynes manual... that would be most helpful...!

The links posted by others were helpful ( and I have archived them for reference on my PC, though that one you mention is for the 1999 AJ27 engine and mine is an AJ26 and though I know it was mainly electronics changes it still doesn't help as it doesn't tell me what items I need to remove and what nots n bolts to unscrew to get my Supercharger intercoolers off, in fact it barely mentions the Supercharger as of course that an ancilliary component... though haynes et al are much maligned by some, as a guide for someone new to a vehicle model they can be most enlightening. alas as you say there is nothing like them for the X308... Think I'll sell it and buy a Mondeo

Alldata DIY is an american web site that has quite a large selection of maintenance information for a range of XJs and years for a pretty reasonable annual subscription. Even better value if you have more than one car, or you renew for a second year. They also have all the service bulletins.

If you want to go to the horse's mouth, Jaguar's web site is now called TOPix ater it was spun off from Ford's General Technical Reference (GTR). There's a range of access subscriptions, I think more expensive than Alldata. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm
