Window Glue?

Postby DougX » Fri Jul 22, 2022 1:42 pm

I have had the rear window brake light on my X308 keep falling off after using various glue, i.e. various super glues and Araldite. The reason recently has been due to the hot weather experienced. Can anyone recommend something that will do the job PERMANENTLY?

That was what it was on originally, and that peel off!

Oh! I usually find 3M double sided tape to be pretty good, only other glue I could suggest is gorilla glue, which is generally strong.

There is a Loctite product that says it works on glass and some plastics;
https://www.loctite-consumer.co.uk/en/p ... glass.html

There is another type on the Loctite website in the US but it doesn’t seem to be available over here;
https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/prod ... =insideUse

Some years ago I was doing some work at a Formula 1 team HQ where a display company were gluing a deconstructed F1 car to a series of glass panels. It included body and engine/gearbox parts so metal, plastic, carbon fibre, etc, so there must be a suitable product.

Have a look at the Permabond website for UV activated adhesives and perhaps give them a call.

Hi Doug, the people with the correct glue are the auto glass repair companies. Pretty sure if you go along to your local depot, they will be able to sort you out in a few minutes.
