Jaguar XJRV8 - Spending advice ££££££

Hi All,
I Bought another Jaguar XJR 2000 W reg a few weeks ago as a weekend toy. All my friends think it’s an old man’s car but I love them and have been around Jags while growing up. (33 years old )
The car has the larger brembo brakes and the Cat motif on the bonnet. Beautiful car previously owned by a Jaguar technician (well that’s what he said). Covered 112k with full service history and all invoices to prove that its genuine, engine was replaced at 64k at a Jaguar main dealer due to engine failure. Full bare metal body respray in 2012 - looks brand new. No rust at all underneath or the arches.
I knew that the brakes needed replacing so ordered new discs and pads all round and 2 front wheel bearings cost £1175 plus £300 fitting at a local garage.
I then booked it in with Les Pauls in Woodford for an inspection just to see if the car needed any other work. Well so far it’s cost me £1000 for the below work. I must say the guys at Les Pauls are brilliant if anyone is in the London area I would highly recommend them.

New Steering Rack
2 times Wishbones
Hunter Wheel Alignment
4 brakes discs and pads
Under seal
Track rod ends

I am a bit of a perfectionist and will get the interior fully re-trimmed in a few months with XJR logos on the front seats. Also a full stainless steel magna flow exhaust will go on. Lower pulley has been changed so must be pushing out 410 bhp. Also thinking of changing the Milan BBS alloys.
When do I stop spending??
Is it worth spending on this car??

easy, YES!!!, a good V8 R is a great car, so few good ones left now, stick with it

Hi,
I have to back Rob up here. A stunning car, and you are certainly making it into a handful. I always enjoy it when my friends tell me mine are old mans cars, and then watch them in their "hot hatches" disappear in my rear view mirror from the lights and keep disappearing as the road opens up.
And that is only from a 4.0 ltr Sport x300. Cant wait to get my hands a an 'R'.

sit with me for an hour or so in ANY of my cars and I will disprove the "old man cars" thing in an instant, ask our chairman who had three "parade" laps of Donnington as a passenger in my 350 R last weekend, bum clenched and on the "jesus" handle for most of the time!!

some one on here had a run in my manual 300R some years ago, quote "are we at take off velocity yet??" V1 I think in flying terms??

Lol they are defiantly not an old man’s car, I took my friend for a spin in my car and he came out saying that it feels faster than the Nemesis ride at Thorpe Park. His legs had turned into Jelly. (this was obviously done on a track)

Update on my car-
Work has been completed and ready for collection tomorrow, the only issue left which the technicians are trying to find is a vibration in the car which starts around 40mph all the way through to 70mph it is felt through the seat. They have re-balanced the tyres, checked the prop shaft all bushing etc but still can’t get to the bottom of it.
Any ideas what it could be? New propshaft £1000 fitted.....

So there are more than 2 then......??......mind you its a 1999...it must have been expensive it says its got a super charge on it , if it ever goes to court will I have this charge to pay ?
