That is a heart warming video.

No Jaguar looks as good as an XJR. I first drove one when my customer cut his fingers off with my circular saw. Couldn`t have happened to a nicer chap.

I have to say this was my first Jaguar drive and I remember every moment of it. The car aquired a rather murdered look whilst I drove to hospital, but I found it car to be the sweetest, most unflustered cornering machine I`d ever driven. What a superb car. Boy, did I tank it down the Dunster Staight to Minehead in order to save my miserable clients life. No car has ever made such an impression on me in such a short space of time.

Clarkson said " I can think of no car on this earth, that does everything so well". Words never bettered.

I know that was a promotional video, but I find the content very convincing and not a million miles from the truth. Nice one.

Seeing the late, great Geoff Lawson on the video, had he not passed on, I`m inclinded to wonder what sort of cars would be in production now.

Try as I might, I just cannot find any enthusiasm for the XF and the new XJ. Do they stand out from the pack as a Jaguar? I can pick a Trad Jag out a mile away. You have to look hard to see an XF or an XJ. It looks like an Audi or a Mondeo from a distance. I am disappointed with the new cars and I don`t want to be. Functional and opulent, yes. Charismatic? I think not.

Thats what ive been saying the 308 is the last of the long low Jaguars
We have the homour of being the custodians of a wonderful marque.....
Dont be in a hurry to get rid of yours, people will be realising how important the 308 really is..............Joe

Having seen and driven the 350, I still prefer my 308. The 350 sort of looks "bulky" to me - No doubt it has its followers (as all cars do) but there is something about the shape and looks of the 308 that made me decide to keep and repair my car when it went wrong rather than scrap it.

It's an ongoing thing, as I now need to sort out the body work as she is starting to rust around the arches and needs a new drivers wing - I have the wing I just need to gather up the money to pay for fitting/spraying etc

So far I have spent approximately £4500 in buying and then fixing the car, and although I know that a 1999 XJ8 is probably only worth anything from £2000 to £4500 (according to ebays prices today) taking into consideration the LPG conversion and the new low mileage engine I reckon she is roughly worth what I have paid for her once I get the paint tidy (on a good day with an enthusiast wanting to buy it)

But I won't be selling it, I spent a long time searching for this car, I wanted a Black LWB Sovereign but could not find one at a reasonable price so even though my car is a "base" model I could not resist it.

Did I buy with my heart? yes. and I could care less and would probably do it again

Still, having said it is the base model somebody ticked the options list as my car has the mesh grille, the wooden gear knob and the CATS suspension (that bit surprised me as I thought it was an expensive option and was really only for the XJR)
