It may just be me but I never really know how much petrol costs. I just fill up the car when it's empty. However, unless I've missed something that happened this week, I've suddenly noticed how expensive is petrol. That's because today I filled up with what I think must be the most expensive tank of petrol that I've ever bought! Standard unleaded and it cost me £87.80!!
It's made me realise that it really is time to sort out the reason for my high CO level and see if I can improve the consumption level back to where it used to be last year.

Just paid £1.17 a litre in Porchester this morning. That hurt.
Never a better case for diesel or LPG conversion.
If you haven`t changed your paper air filter to oiled cotton such as a K&N or Green filter, consider doing so. I gained about 1.5mpg when I fitted one to my V6 and later the V8. Cheapest by far was from motorsportworld on the net. About £45 or there abouts. The car runs easier and is more spritely as a result.
Can`t tolerate paper filters. Best thing for them is as a firelighter! Don`t have to buy them either at service time. That saves a few quid.

As this is developing into a major issue with all motorists maybe handy tips for reducing petrol consumption can be entered into an article within the forum.
An X308 as we now know is not one of your 40 mpg vehicles but it is a lot better than some "high end" cars that are reputed to be serious contenders to a 308.
I have a Daimler Super V 8 4.ltr 1999.........which "round town" cycle gives an average of 18-19 mpg.......on a run of an average over 80 miles round trip i get a regular 26mpg.......
This is on a vehicle with 41,000 miles on the clock and in good fully serviced mechanical order.
Taking this as a bench mark who gets less or more to the gallon on a 308...........plus any modifications that may help members to improve their MPG.................Joe

My last fill up was at £1.209 at Tesco and that came to £83, on another Jag forum a guy filled the same Jag up in the USA and it came to £23 and that was not the cheapest state, Now that tells you everything.
