CD changer and drivers handbook

Postby Dragonfly » Thu Apr 24, 2008 7:57 pm

Anyone know where I get a Drivers Handbook for a 1999 XJ8? Tried the stealers but you can only get the complete pack at £75!
Also what model of Alpine is the CD changer?

Dragonfly try e bay or Eurojag may have one they specialise in late model Jags.....a few guys have had success on there.....re the Alpine changer go on the Alpine site and you can find out there, there will be a specific model for your car to marry up with the software thats in your radio head..........if its an MP3 unit you are trying to find Alpine do one with MP3 but it wont marry up with your software..........for an MP3 option there are other ways of creating one without major surgery.....Joe

hello Dragonfly
For your handbook try Club member Andrew Swift.
His contact details are in the "Other Club Officials" list at the front of the magazine. He should be able to help.

Thanks guys. I thought the changer was CHM-S630, but on the Alpine site that has an 8 pin connector. On the car it's a different connector.

Well I managed to source a CD changer and brackets off the bay of e. Another result was finding the drivers handbook on-line, so I've printed a copy.
I word of warning though regarding the changer. You cannot just add an Alpine changer to the standard radio. Apparently Jaguar in their crazy wisdom have added some sort of block that prevents this for working. Only their own branded one will work. The stealers charge £350+VAT for a new changer!

We have found a solution to the 308 handbook problem so many of you are having.........we do in the JEC have our own very famous brochure guy
Andrew Swift.......who is a national and international authority on all things to do with vehicle brochures and handbooks..........
He has no E Mail facility however but if you ring him (at a reasonable hour ) on 0114 2685158,if he can, he will sort you out at a price you decide with him..........Joe
