Hi all, I am a new X308 owner, but not new to Jaguar. I also have a 2013 XFR-Sport and a 2001 S-type 3ltr SE.
It is the S type that's brought me to XJ ownership. I've owned the S-type since last September and covered over 12,000 mainly motorway commuting miles in her....needless to say, the car is very well known on the S-type forum. Unfortunately rusty sills have meant that the car is being sold on E-bay and I was in need of a replacement...quickly!
Once again e-bay came to the rescue and I picked up a high mileage but full MOT'd 4ltr LWB sovereign for a song. I't is British racing green with oatmeal leather. 2 owners with a full history ...but it's come from a farming family and I think they left half of the farm in and around the car! Still, a good few weeks cleaning should see it habitable by humans again....
I'll post up pictures as soon as I have time to resize them...wish me luk

I am a new X308 owner too. I hope I won't miss my trusty old 40... I picked up a late 2001 model though, with steel liners - the tensionners have been changed, and today everything works as it should.... Since I live in France, I had to buy a LHD. LHD X 308's are not common and fetch high prices. The choice is very limited.
LHD XJ 40's don't come out cheap either. I have just sold my 92 Sovereign for 3500 € (almost £ 3000 !), and this is considered as the right price in France. New Jaguars seem to appeal to the French public, but traditional models never caught on (too Bristish ? ).
In ten years of ownership my 40 never let me down except once, with a split coolant hose (it came unnoticed upon visual inspection). 40's are undoubtedly reliable. I hope X 308's are just as good...
