Daimler Super V8

Not really a new member to the BB, but I finally pushed the button on a Daimler Super V8. I've studied this particular car since early in the New Year and many (Rob J) would say it was over priced. I did get a better deal than the screen price but that's academic really as I've not bought it to sell on. At 14 years old it's not perfect, but the amount of detailing needed to bring it to show standard is minimal. I'll be writing something for Nigel T in the future on pondering/sourcing/buying and collecting this car. There is quite a bit of history with it and I have sent a request to DVLA for the previous owners. It was originally a Jaguar Company vehicle and featured in the spoof 'Prime Minister Ali G' film and was shown entering those famous gates in Downing Street.
This is my first 'crinkle cut' Jaguar and so far after only 500 miles I am very impressed. It's a 4 seater in Anthracite with Ivory leather.
Another important factor is that someone here in Orkney was pestering me to sell him my Madeira red XJ8 - always the best time to sell. I have also sold my XJS Cabriolet after 24 years of ownership.

Congatulations on the purchase! Paying a bit more for a car is not important if you intend to keep it and it's the car you really want!

Tks also for being one of the few members who bothers to update their membership record with their new car details! I've just looked at your pics and do love that 4-seater configuration on the x308! If you haven't already done so, do please also remember to remove the other x308 & XJS from your membership record.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comments - yes it was the four seater for me and I also wanted a dark exterior and an ivory interior, so that cut down the already low number available. I'll definitely let you know how things go, either via the BB or with an occasional mag article - as I did with the other cars.

Orkney almost 4 years for my reply, been a bit busy, !! but I'm back now and I am attempting to rekindle some members in the forum ....
I still have my 1999 Daimler Super V 8 the one a bought from a Jaguar Cars director in 2006, well the car has done 60,000 miles now so I'm a little way behind everyone else, my Forte was the main JEC days of which I used to be involved with mainly the Northern Day at Harewood House and several other shows, I was for quite a while the chair and other bits and bats at the Ridings Region in Leeds and West Yorkshire area.
Things have changed within the forum as we knew it, we have advanced in years for one thing, the original concept drifted a bit as members needs for information changed but its still surviving I see..............a big thank you to those who carried on the good work and the forum concept, and for those with the same old bangers from year dot, its good to see you all flourishing.........Joe
