New member, new x308

Hi all,

Just a quick introduction and hello.

I've frequented the other Jaguar forum for a few years since buying my first Jag, an S Type, and then moving on to an X358 4.2 as my daily driver.

Always had been drawn to the body shape of the older models and finally gave in to the urge earlier this year. Now the owner of a 1997 Sovereign LWB bought as a weekend car/project. Had a few months of pleasure driving it, and after having one of the front jacking points collapse on me the other day when trying to get the front end off the ground to start on some cosmetic work, I've now definitely move into the 'project' phase .

I'll be doing a lot of reading and asking questions as I go (and probably some weeping) but I'm determined to learn and see it through. Anyway, I'll couple pics shortly, whilst it still looks pretty.

Hi Dan and a warm welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you have found the main issue that that sends these wonderful cars to the scrap yard and that is RUST .
Still,all things can be sorted with dedication and if you can do the work yourself it can keep the cost's down.
Just like any other hobby it will cost something but in my opinion they are well worth saving .
Your car looks nice in the photo's and although I'm not a fan of those wheel arch trims myself it does set it apart from others.
Ask away if you have any problems.
Good luck with the project and keep us updated on progress if you can.

Agreed, the wheel arch covers are a bit blingy for my taste too, they are currently off and despite my suspicions of why they had been fitted, only one of the arches had any significant crustiness to it.

I will probably leave them off when it's done.

Currently no front wings to put them on anyway
