Good Morning All, i have just rejoined having recently bought a 1999 Daimler V8, in seafrost. it has covered 145k, as you might expect it needs a good number of jobs attending to - badly worn interior seats, rear screen and front arch corrosion. The rear suspension sub frame looks to be corroded too, although this hasnt been an advisory item on MOTs. i would very much welcome any advice on where i might locata any secondhand seats/interior, also if anybody can recommend a good bodyshop in Kent please

Drivers seat has a tear in the squab mind you, thats what was putting me off, but not impossible i guess :) i will post some pics, car park dinks and all.......only have pics on mobile atm and cant download to pc !

For your corroded rear sub-frame (I assume you're referring to what's called the rear "A" frame with two rubber bushes that can be seen just in front of the rearmost body member.
I had that called out as being "corroded". And the bushes "perished". Took it to an olde established firm in Thame
(Hyper Transformations) who identified that there was surface rust on mine, but the bushes were just squashed a bit and not perished.
There have been reports in here of these "A" frames being so rusted as like becoming like a colander. Don't know how far yours has gone. But if it's not even been an advisory on MOTs it could be just surface rust that lifts off the paint and label in large flakes?
If you do want to change Ray at Surry Jaguar in Croydon has re-furbished ones in at £250 last time I enquired. Can't recall whether that was with the labour or the bushes.

For a body shop: I've used before Gary at Viking Coachworks in Lower Shorne -- not cheap and they do insurance work so you'd have to take your turn. But the quality of the work there to my unprofessional eye appeared top notch. Saw at my last visit an XK120 taken from a rusted old hulk of a sub-frame.

Hope my wibbles help as a welcome back?

Eurojag sell refurbished A frames for the X308. Only sound corrosion free units are used. They are shot peened to clear surface corrosion and then refinished. New mountings are fitted. Prices are quite reasonable.

I once owned a 308R. The A-frame on that car was seriously perforated. You could pull great chunks of it away with just one hand......the underside of that car was also in appalling condition. One of the most rotten cars I have ever encountered. A great shame because visually it looked in spanking condition.

thanks guys, helpful advice and information is much appreciated. For the interior i have read various threads on here and i am now minded to have a go at it myself. Do the seat covers come off easily?
Suspension might very well be only surface rust, truthfully i havent had much time to look properly, but will do so when i can. in time it would be great to have all the rutt removed/treated, followed by waxoil or similar of the underneath...more investigation required there.
thanks also for the bodyshop recomendation, i will have a chat with them at some point. i have noted 7 areas of surface corrosion, both rear screen bottom sides, both front wheel arches-behind the mudflaps. Both rear wheel arches- leading edges starting to go. Also there is patch on the rear wing below tailight !
Another thing - the Daimler lambswool overugs arent great, especially the drivers - where might i get new ones from please?

Electric aerial is knackered - that has to be one of the most common jag issues that i remember from years gone by :)

on the plus side its had much money spent on mechanicals...i didnt buy a basket case, and the seafrost colour didnt win me over on its own...honestly :)
