Good old Paint Code!!!

Postby DaveT4444 » Tue Nov 12, 2013 5:30 pm

Hi
Just taken delivery of my very 1st venture into XJ ownership with a 1998 Daimler V8 - why has it taken me so long!

Very happy and busy getting the few minor problems sorted.

Need to clean and colour up some minor wear and tear on the leather, but having trouble finding the plate with the colour codes on. Tried all door frames and engine bay around the radiator, but no success as yet.

Now trying to contact the supplier to see if they can help.

Any thoughts on where the colour code plate may be hiding?

All, or any, help gratefully received

Many thanks

the paint code for the X308 is on the radiator cross member by the left bonnet hinge

there is a high chance that the decal has worn as they were not that resistant to cleaning ,

other than that, call Jaguar with the VIN and i expect they would be happy to help

what sort of colour is it ( green , silver , red etc ) and we should be able to give you the code , better still a picture

BTW , welcome to Jag ownership , no going back now

Hi,
Welcome to the Club.

Interior paint codes, should be where you are looking, but fear not. The company I would strongly recommend are called "Furniture Clinic" and have most of the colour matches for Jaguar interior already anyway, or offer a colour match service.

I have added the link below which will take you straight to their Jaguar Colour charts:

http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Jaguar ... _Chart.php

These guys are very good, and the best I have personally come across and many others will say the same. If you are unsure, give them a call, very helpful and willing, and always offer the best advice, and dont try to sell you things you dont need (not in my experience anyway).

Good luck, if you are still struggling, give me a shout, Im sure we can help.

Thank you both for the welcome and info.
I will now:
a. have a good luck for the plate in daylight
b. if no joy i will contact Jaguar and see if they can help
c. if still no joy i will ask furniture clinic....website looks really good and not too expensive for what i will need

thanks again. i will attempt to attach a photo so you can see the colour. Its a very dark green and the leather very light ivory/cream!!!!

the interior looks like Antelope over Oatmeal , however, the lighter colour could be Ivory , i had an Antelope over Oatmeal and i think it was code AGD ,

in a quirk of interior trim trivia , the interior code is on a sticker behind the speedo cluster , but you have to remove the dials to see it ,

as for the exterior , i dont know the code for the green , but i think there was only one green at that time

good luck

nice looking car btw

I had an X308 a few years back, and that looks very similar interior colour, mine was Ivory - but check the experts to confirm.
