Hello from Orkney

Postby Orkney » Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:11 pm

Took the plunge and bought us an XJ8 in madeira pearl met with cashmere interior. Original Nikasil engine on 54000 so lots to check - tensioners w/pump etc. Seems all good so far but time will tell. I still have my 85 3.6 XJS-C (owned 22 years) but felt the need for another challenge. Seems too much car for so little money, but I realise that the bigger the car, the more money it can swallow! Someone recently spent over £700 on it having a twin electrics detachable Jaguar tow bar fitted - ouch!
No doubt I will be back for help when something inevitably goes wrong. I think the only things which don't work are the petrol flap motor and the rear motor up/down on the drivers seat (relay behind dash clicks though)

Update: Christine often tells me my hearing is wonky - the clicking relay is under my seat - well I don't have ears THERE do I?

so much that i bought the wife an X-type two weeks ago , so at least there is always a Jag on the drive, lol
