New 3.2 Sport Owner in Dorset

I've always loved the series 3 inspired looks of the XJ8 and was blown away by the level of refinement when I had a few months use of one back in 2004.

So I've sold my sensible Golf GTI and left a deposit on a March 2002 XJ8 3.2 Sport with 69k and FSH. It struck me as a very clean car with one owner plus dealer demo. I'm also very taken with the dark mettalic (Jag Racing Green?!) coachwork and like new cream leather interior - a little unusual?

Really looking forward to picking the car up (and the 280 mile drive home!!!) but a little bit apprehensive about what preventative maintanance I should get done (and where)....

Jon, welcome to the forum and many thanks for the pics ....but could you please put them in the register along with the pics or our enforcer David will be chasing you....(he likes to keep all things in the correct boxes)
Have a look while you are in the registry area at the other members cars there are quite a few very nice vehicles in there......
The Green paintwork and the ivory leather are or were the ideal Jaguar colour scheme colours......when mingling with other members at shows ect you may notice the combinations of Green and Cream outfits knocking about............
The preventative maintenance you need to know about and its a must to at least ask if this work has already been done is.....the top timing chain tensioners replaced for the latest aluminium type, the water pump for the latest type along with the thermostat......this needs to be part of any deal buying a 308 ..........any decent sales for a 308 would or should tell you if this work has been done.....if not it can cost you a fortune if it goes wrong.
Also find out from the Recommended Suppliers list (a box where you log on) who your nearest Jaguar specialist is...........he can advise you for other items that you may need at the best price and workmanship on offer ...........in the meantime enjoy......Joe
