Independant specialist in West Sussex?

Postby rtddci » Fri Jan 11, 2008 11:41 am

I have owned my 1998 XJ8 3.2 for 3 years. It has 58k on the clock. Up to now I have had the car serviced at a Jaguar dealer at great cost but little advice. Having joined this forum I take on board the advice re tensioners, water pump, Nikasil etc. Can anyone recommend a good independant specialist near Horsham or Surrey border?

Servicing in West Sussex

Postby rtddci » Fri Feb 01, 2008 8:57 pm

Thanks for the advice. I've been to the West Sussex region website. Very busy and confusing website although there is a list for events in 2005! I'll have to spend some time trawling through it if I can.

Am now seriously considering selling my car. Don't want to. I'm confused as to what I should do as regards the engine. Wait until it fails and hope that Jaguar will replace it or simply sell now? Disaapointed with this forum.

Martin, re your comments about the advice within the forum, we can only give information re the general state of the marque and its faults.
As for any jaguar specialists in certain areas we have appealed to members within the forum to post their own recommendations to try and eliminate the high costs of dealerships.
If there had been an entry for a Jag specialist the region you request the answer would have been posted im sure almost at once.
But.....in replies to the specialist question in certain areas we cant help you if no one has posted details of specialists.
Either they use main dealers or they cant be bothered to post where they get their cars repaired.
This is no fault of the forum, we can only give out information we have.
In fact Dave Ireland has asked JEC to form a national list of Jaguar specialists. This will take time to set up and will be in the form of a handbook issued free to all members......but whether it can be done effectively will depend almost entirely on input from you the members.
Details will appear in the magazine in due course.
But if you look hard enough there must be a garage with enough experience even if it is not a Jaguar specialist that could put your mind at rest. Try the ads in our magazine.
Failing that, have a run up to Nottingham (with a prior appointment) and let Dave Marks answer your worries
Joe

Joe
Many thanks for your kind and prompt response. I think I shall take your advice and take a pre arranged trip to Nottingham.
Thanks again

Hello Martin and welcome to the Forum
I have just become aware of your request and would ask you to consider further how the Forum works.
Joe's comments are are pertinent, but you asked for a recommended service agent in your local area
There could be one of these explanations for the lack of a response:
a)Members do not know of a Jaguar Specialist in the area you mention.
b)Members do know of a Jaguar Specialist but are not prepared to recommend it.
I would suggest, particularly if the second scenario is true, the Forum is working as it should. :)

Service

Postby Moody100 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:53 pm

Hi there
I am new to the forum but I have had my baby for 3 years and have had it serviced at KARS in Partridge Green. It is not an independant jag specialist but the service costs are reasonable and he has always done a great job, 01403 711563 ask for Kieth and say Chris recommended you. Truely a great mechanic
Hope this helps :D

Service information

"MOODY" many thanks for the input, this is what we are looking for,any garage where you personally have had good service at a reasonable price.
Its invaluable to some members, but an address and posible postcode is also helpful.....the old SAT NAV is becoming very popular these days
