It may seem basic but I would be really grateful if someone can verify that in my 2005 4.2 XK8 Bank 1 is the right hand bank of cylinders as viewed from the driver's seat and also that RH in the manual means right hand also as viewed from the driver's seat? I have seen some information that contradicts this.

Don't worry, you're right! Jaguar have altered the cylinder numbering and Bank designations over the years, but for your engine, indeed all 4.2 V8s, this is a relevant extract from the Jaguar manual.

Bank 1 RH Engine cylinder bank (cylinders 1, 3, 5, 7) (A Bank)
Bank 2 LH Engine cylinder bank (cylinders 2, 4, 6, (B Bank)

Right and Left as seen from the driver's seat
