XK8 2003 4.2 Chassis plate removal

Can anybody give me a removal procedure for the factory transport plates left on after production which has caused so much trouble to other owners.

Presently everything is sound as the car has only done 50,000 miles so would just like to nip this in the bud and put it on the winter list to sort.

If there is nothing more than surface rust, the simplest solution is to fill the space between the skins with Waxoyl or similar rustproofing materials. The work involved in removing the plates would not be dissimilar to repairing them, i.e. removal of the carpets before cutting off the material not required. If rust is present, there isn't a decision to make! Mike.
