X150 parcel shelf

Just in case others have had the same issue...

...the parcel shelf - the covered board that is attached to the X150 boot lid to obscure from prying eyes what's in the boot - has for some time been dropping down. And it's been particularly irritating.

I tried various options such as 3D printed replacement retainers and locators - the 'pins' that attach the shelf to the holes, as well as changing the tension in the rubber bung in the retainer by loosening/tightening the screw. Nothing worked.

However, a simple fix did: small sections of black insulation tape (the XK is black) that were fitted into and around the holes in the lid and which splayed around said holes. Once the tape was installed I pushed the retainer (with piece with the clip) fully in and turned the clip. It's an invisible fix.

In two weeks I've not had a single drop of the parcel shelf.

I guess that the insulation tape has (a) given the expanding rubber bung on the retainer something to grip onto, and (b), made the hole fractionally smaller.
