Instrument Cluster Removal X150 2008

Postby DJB72 » Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:14 am

Hi. Has anyone any experience of removing the instrument cluster on an X150. I’ve done a little research and it appears to be secured by 4 screws, 2 of them are located behind the trim panel above the steering column? I’ve been advised to invest in a set of trim removal tools. I’m about to send the cluster off for testing as it may well be the cause of a long-standing,intermittent non starting issue.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's slightly more involved than your description. Namely, begin by carefully removing the instrument panel driver's side reinforcement trim panel (4 clips). Take out the 3 screws holding the instrument cluster surround. Then, remove the two upper screws holding the cluster before raising the steering column finisher for access to remove the lower 2 screws. Disconnect both electrical connectors and the unit should be free. Mike.

Many thanks Mike. Are the screw heads the hexagonal type?

Sorry, I can't recall the screw head type and with the minor model year changes during production, they may have changed during the model's run. Mike.
