Door Seal Replacement

Postby Antz0711 » Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:22 pm

I have a year 2K coupe and need to replace the offside door seal as it has torn on top of the mirror bracket.

I think the mirror, tweeter and door card need to come off to access the seal and would like to know if anyone has been through this exercise themselves.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony

Yes, you are right, in that the door card etc have to come off.

Its all simple mecano to do, but suggest you get a proper trim tool to lever the door trim off the door as screwdriver will mark paint. Secondly, the plastic clips that retain the studs holding the door card onto the door are a bit feeble, so you need a direct straight pull off the door, ie, not at an angle.

This sounds worse than it is, and the whole job should take you less than 30mins.

If you check ebay there are lots of copies of JTIS around, that will show you how, blow by blow...

David,

Thank you for your help. I've changed the door seal and now have a whistle-free XK8 again.

Kind Regards.

Tony
