Self service

Postby Jaguar_Enthusiast » Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:52 pm

There’s an informative article in this month’s Jaguar World on servicing a 5L XKR that other owners might think worth a look.

Apart from the technique for extracting the engine oil using a pump, I have only now discovered that the air filters are tucked away in the front wheel arches.

Live and learn I suppose!

That's a very useful article, thanks for sharing.

There is also a very useful article in the JEC Magazine May 2014 pages 23-26, if you don't have a paper copy it is in the magazine archive on this site https://jec.org.uk/magazine/vol-30-no-05

Just about to sort out my air / pollen filters - doing so few miles in recent years that they have looked very clean on each inspection. Looked at pollen filter the other day, I don't know if its been the very wet winter but decided change was now appropriate.

There is a very comprehensive service article on the 5.0L XKR in the February 2021 JE magazine in the Modern XK column at Page 28 onwards, compiled by our current chairman, Mike Horlor. Link below.

Can not help but think that having the air filters so low to the ground potentially presents issues when confronted by a flooded road (climate change etc.). Won't harp on about it, but the usual height is levelish with the inlet manifold or higher.
