PARK BRAKE MODULE

Hi does anyone know where the module is located in a 2007 Xkr convertible I’ve got parke brake fault on the dash when the obd is connected it just says lost communication

The parking brake module is behind the auxiliary junction box, between the two rear seat backs.
The two connectors to it are positioned as shown here (Sorry about the picture that's extracted from the W'shop manual!)

One connector is Light Grey and is 14 way. The other is Grey and 24 way and they can be removed without further disassembly

It's usually advisable to disconnect the battery before disconnecting modules.

Removing the module is quite a significant task requiring removal of the two roll-over hoops and their firing arrangements before being able to loosen off the auxiliary junction box in front of the module. I can pass you all the details if you need them!

There would be no effect on safety if you gave those two connectors a good wiggle to ensure they're fully engaged and communicating, but if you're not confident taking on the pyrotechnic circuits necessary to extract the brake module, then you're right to give the job to someone who is.

The no communication issue can be caused by a variety of reasons. For example, the code reader may not be compatible with the system; the car's battery voltage may be too low; or there's a blown fuse somewhere. Hence, checking all fuses, charging or replacing the battery, and/or using another code reader may enable you to reach the diagnostic codes necessary to diagnose the handbrake fault (if there is one). The module itself may not be the guilty party. Mike.
