Hello
I would like to remove the road wheels on my xk convertable while its in storage over the winter ,please could someone advise me is it best to place the four axle stands supporting the suspension to avoid it just hanging ,is so where would one place them to best effect

These are the Jaguar recommended points for jacking (A) and axle stands (B). Mike.

I have occasionally supported one corner of my cars on its suspension while tightening new suspension bushes in the road going position, but it never feels a comfortably safe situation to me.

An alternative for your purposes might be to get four cheap, shabby wheels and tyres (as long as they hold air!) and use them to support the car. The centre bore of the wheel at 63.4 mm and a stud pcd of 5 x 108mm looks standard across all Jaguars of that era, but check.

Four of these would be OK at £20 each and free delivery!

I just feel that would be a more stable solution than balancing the whole car on parts of its suspension. There's a lot of energy in compressed suspension!

I store my XK over winter and over inflate the tyres by about 10psi each, always been fine.
