I have had intermittent problems with the pedestrian sensor warning on my 2013 XK, and have in the past been charged significant amounts for dealer sensor replacement. It does not appear to be a simple issue of cleaning the sensors. The sensors seem pretty unnecessary to me, but were perhaps a legal requirement in some markets when the car was first manufactured? Does anyone know of a simple DIY fix, of even a method to de-activate the sensor system to prevent the dashboard warning continuously showing?

There have been instances of these sensors failing but if you've already had them replaced, it suggests that something else is at fault. A visit to a good Jaguar specialist might be a cheaper way of solving the issue rather than returning to a dealer who hasn't diagnosed the fault correctly. Mike.

An Auto electrician or garage with a suitable mechanic should be able to sort. I had my nearside sensor replaced for exactly this reason by a local garage. On return for the MOT I had a similar error come up , this time for the bonnet airbag actuator. Mechanic sorted with a resistor for a temporay fix

Ive had both outside sensors replaced after warning light came on. Happened when the car was sitting outside after a run on a hot sunny day. Has=d them replaced, all sorted. However, recently the issue has returned. Following an overnight under cover, the next day the light had gone out. Suggestion is that it is temperature sensitive. I am disinclined to pay for a further pair.
Incidentally, my specialist says he has never known the central sensor to fail.
