2014 XKR
Car has been laid up over the winter and back on the road from the start of April.
For the first time in my period of ownership, the engine cooling fans have started coming on unexpectedly.
I’ve done some local journeys since this started, monitoring coolant temperature via an Icarsoft scanner. Main coolant temperature is a very stable 89-91C.
The fans have been coming on especially when parking up, even after when engine is switched off. I understand that this is what they are supposed to do, but it’s odd that this has never happened to me before. Ambient temperature today is about 14C so definitely not hot weather.
There are no signs of any loss of coolant.
Battery has been on a Ctek charger all winter.
Scratching my head for possible causes and would welcome ideas. As the engine does not seem to be overheating, I presume OK to continue driving the car until this is fully diagnosed & fixed? Thoughts welcome!

I had same issue and it was thermostat faulty. Easy diy change, just 3 bolts to remove

Thanks for passing on your experience. Much appreciated.

You should certainly be ok driving, these cars were designed to warm up rapidly and the cooling system is quite sophisticated. If engine does overheat then obviously stop

Cheers. Just bought a mini-OBD (LELink) which connects to my phone just so I can keep an eye on the coolant for the time being.
Impressed at how easy it was to install this device. I picked that one as it has auto power off, as I didn’t want one which would drain the X150’s famously robust battery and electrics
