Tyre Change

Postby daviddunning6940341 » Wed Nov 24, 2021 11:39 am

The Tyres on my 2012 X150 Portfolio are coming up for replacement, Dunlops are currently fitted and I find them to be quite noisy as far as road noise is concerned. I asked my local Tyre Centre for a quote for Pirelli replacements. They suggested fitting all season tyres but Pirelli apparently only make fronts for my model. They suggested fitting Maxiss Tyres which are also rated as quiet but I have never heard of them. Has anyone experience with all season tyres and or this make of tyre or alternatively suggest the quietest tyres.

Like everything "universal", all season tyres will do an adequate, but not outstanding, job. If you don't use your car much in the Winter, just buy a quality set of Summer tyres ( Bridgestone & Michelin seem good on these), if you use it regularly when the temperature is below 10 degrees, invest in an extra set of wheels and fit them with quality Winter tyres Nokian or something else from a country with severe Winters).
You will be amazed at the difference.

Pirelli do make both front and rear tyres to fit the XK. Many XKs had them fitted as original equipment. Possibly your tyre supplier couldn't get stock at the time of the inquiry. Mike.
