DIFF OIL CHANGE

Postby lovejags » Mon Sep 14, 2020 8:28 pm

Have just changed oil and filter and anti freeze on my 2007 Xkr I was thinking of changing the diff oil. While under the car I noticed a plug on the diff is this the drain and refill plug?

I don't know if the Diff on the XK is similar to the X350 but most only have a level plug (no drain plug then it can't leak being the thinking). I had great difficulty in persuading my main dealer to change the oil at 100K as part of a service - "oh no sir, we only top it up". They grudgingly syphoned the old oil out through the level plug and then refilled with new oil.

Changed diff oil last week straightforward job 1/2 inch drain & refill plug sucked old oil out which was minging then replaced with new until oil starts running out, will run for a couple of weeks then d again.
