Issue with a dropping sunvisor

Postby sr.davies50680 » Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:29 am

Hi Gents, I'm new to the club after purchasing my XK 2014 last month, i have an issue with the left hand sunvisor not folding back up to the roof, the previous owner i have found out had pinned the visor to the roof lining. Is there anything i can do or is it a replacement required?

Hi sr.davies50680, having had a look at the parts website, I can see the layout for the sun visor parts and the appropriate mechanism that holds the visor in the closed position, but it is not identified separately for some reason. I suspect that the offending part has a broken spring or similar in the detent mechanism. Should be relatively simple to dismount for a look inside to see if anything is simply disconnected, otherwise seek a replacement part from a breaker yard.

Follow the link below to see the parts diagram:

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply took your advise and removed the visor and checked it over and the visor spring hinge has broken through the plastic of the visor and there is now nothing to resist to. Ive managed to find a pair on Ebay and should arrive in Qatar with me by next week.
